Ideas Worth Exploring
Red Hat Summit 2018 | San Francisco
This was the first year at Red Hat that I co-lead design on such a huge project. Taking direction from both the ACD and AD, this year's theme focused on the "what lies beyond" of exploring open source. The theme elements used orbits and space-based illustrations to keep attendees curious about what parts of open source were drawing them in.
Outdoor sigange let San Francisco know that Red Hat was in town while helping direct attendees between various buildings.
Because there were multiple buildings, directional signage became essential for attendees. We created large scale maps, hanging signs, and meterboards to help people move through the physical layers of Summit fluidly.
Digital and print signage were used to immerse the attendees of Summit strategically. We featured customers on large scale hanging banners. Keynote times and speakers rotated on digital signs. Theme and directional messaging were placed on various print substrates throughout the each floor.
Planning out everything from layout, to signage, sponsor representation, activations, and attendee journey are all things that go into creating a useful and engage expo hall.
A look into our team's theme development process, which was a cross collaborative, intensive process where multiple strategies, concepts and creative options were explored over the course of a few months.
